Adam Kallenbach, a former senior captain for the Jamestown High School football team, announced on Sunday his decision to continue his academic and athletic career at Minnesota State University-Moorhead.

Kallenbach, a wideout for head coach Bill Nelson, helped the Jays to their first, outright state title since 1937 on Nov. 12. He recorded 642 yards on 41 receptions while on the ground, Kallenbach managed 93 yards. As a kicker, Kallenbach was 35-of-43 from extra point range.

The senior also led the team in interceptions, nabbing nine through 12 games.

Katie Trumbauer and Hunter Petersen may have narrowly missed the 2021 Class A state volleyball tournament but the selection committee did not miss the duo when naming athletes to the all-state team.

Trumbauer and Petersen, both seniors for the Jamestown High School volleyball team, were two of 18 athletes recognized. Trumbauer, a three-year varsity team member for the Jays was named to the Class A First-Team, All-State team while Petersen, a transfer from the Griggs-Midkota program, racked up second-team honors.

Trumbauer, the Jays' starting setter, dished out 368 assists over her 62 sets played. The senior averaged more than 20 assists per game. Back behind the service line, Trumbauer served up 30 aces.

Petersen, a key threat on the right side for the Jays, put down 167 kills, averaging more than nine per game.

Valley City State University will once again host the annual Barnes County High School Basketball Tournaments this winter.

The girls' Barnes County Tournament is set for Dec. 7, 9 and 11 and will feature six teams vying for the championship. LaMoure/Litchville-Marion is the top seed and the five-time defending champion in the girls' tournament.

The boys' Barnes County Classic is scheduled for Jan. 11, 13 and 14. The boys will play a “classic” format will all matchups predetermined. The boys' field will likely include several top-ranked Class B teams in the state. A tournament champion will not be crowned on the boys' side.
